The First Press Conference of the second CCIFF festival was held at SIGGRAPH, Macau
The first press conference of the second CCIFF festival took place at The Venetian restaurant in Macau on December 7th, 2016, during the ninth exhibition of the Asian ACM SIGGRAPH. Dr. Miao Song，affiliate Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering in Concordia University, Dr.Xiangshi Ren, Professor of Kochu University of Technology and director of Centre for Human-Engaged Computing, Diana Arellano, June Kim and Tomasz Bednarz, SIGGRAPH International Resource Committee, Jacky Bibliowicz, Autodesk, and She Yingying, Associate professor in Software School of Xiamen University attend this press conference. CCIFF gave special thanks to SIGGRAPH ASIA, SIGGRAPH International Resource Committee, Canada Art Council, and Concordia University.
Siggraph (Special interest group for computer graphics) is a big festival that attracts experts in this domain. This exhibit first organized the « Women in CG Asia » activity, which several Asian women specialized in computer graphics, were invited to share their research. As a professor in informatics and software of Concordia University, the executive director of CCIFF, Dr. Miao Song, was invited and spoke about the big influence of technology on cultural industry.
The press conference was well received; during which Dr. Miao Song published progress on the festival’s preparation.
Collaboration between Canada and China
The second Canadian Chinese International Film Festival will improve from last year. The year of 2017 marks not only the 150th anniversary of Canada’s, but also the 375th anniversary of Montreal. The current commemorative activities will enhance our festival.
This edition will still be organized by Canada China Tech-Art, the general consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Montreal, the general Chinese Administration of press, edition, radio, film and television; Destination Canada; Téléfilm Canada; the society of development of cultural enterprises; and other official organizations have expressed their support and included the festival in their list of special activities for the 150th anniversary of Canada.
7 Main Events
The second festival of the CCIFF will take place in 15 – 18 September 2017, in Montreal. It will be composed of 7 events: there will be an opening ceremony, screenings of selected international films (television series will also be included this year), Chinese-Canadian co-production events, Women’s voices on the screen, exhibition of entertainment technology, activities about the 150th anniversary of Canada, and the closing ceremony.
After the Macau press conference, there will be other press conferences held in Montreal, Beijing, Shanghai, Los Angeles and Toronto. The details of the festival’s main events will be published in subsequent press conference.
The movie submission has begun on December 1st, 2016. The movies must have been produced after January 1st, 2016. We warmly welcome participating filmmakers from both countries, and we appreciate your support.
