Master Class

Master class is one of the highlights of the 2nd edition of CCIFF. It is comprised of several parts: guest speech, film screening, artist performance and so on. All the events of this unit will combine culture with art, focus on the development of film, and aim to boost their influence in the international market. Moreover, this unit aims at sharing the experience of masters and establishing an interconnected and interdependent platform for culture exchange.



Director Li Qianwang talked about that he and his wife, Mrs. Xiao Guiyuan, had filmed all kinds of films for 50 years. Xinghai was a teenage film and hoped that more people could get the oppoturnity to understand the growth of Xian Xinghai’s experience. Director Li also pointed out that this choice of film is correct, because the film could inregrate among different countries and cultures. He also said that Canada china International Film Festival has framed up the bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Canada, and hopes to contribute his effort to the development of exchanged culture.



The famous movie “The Star and the Sea” were screened for the audience. “The Star and the Sea” is directed by Li Qiankuan, Xiao Guiyun. “The Star and the Sea” is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the birth of China and to celebrate the return of Macao. The film won the 14th Film China Film Award for outstanding children’s film award, the 14th Film China Table Award for outstanding children’s actor award and the 6th China-US Film Festival annual “Golden Angel Award”.



For ten years, the Confucius Institute in Quebec has been a statement to the friendship between China and Canada. For the Canada China International Film Festival, there was a special event performed by the students from Beijing Normal University to give the audience an opportunity to understand and gain a new outlook on the Chinese culture.
